I've scanned all the recent threads and couldn't find this being discussed, my apologies if it's old news.

I just bought the HDD-less Pace PVR and the PVR Expander. I already have the original 160GB Pace PVR.

What I would like to do is put the new PVR in the bedroom (which is on a big TV), and move the old PVR to the livingroom (which is hooked up to a very small TV). Is there any way to hook the 1TB Expander up to the old PVR and transfer the content from the 160GB HDD to the PVR Expander? Or do we have to watch it all before we can effect the swap, if we want to see it all on our bigger TV?

No, recordings are encrypted with the DVR that made them. You can transfer recordings from HDD to HDD, but only the original DVR can play them. Any other DVR will recognize the recordings but refuse to play them.
