Microsoft is ramping up its commercial distribution strategy for the Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets in Canada and Europe.
In Canada, Microsoft has added the following channel partners: CDW Canada, Compugen, Insight Canada, Long View Systems and Softchoice Corp.
"In addition to offering Microsoft’s extended warranty and accidental damage, resellers bring a variety of additional value-added services to the Surface family, such as asset tagging, custom imaging, kitting, onsite service and support, device recycling and data protection," noted Microsoft Surface Director, Cyril Belikoff.
Belikoff also listed 16 other markets Microsoft will be targeting to increase Surface tablet sales: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
In the second quarter of 2013, which ended June 30, research firm IDC estimates that Microsoft shipped 300,000 Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets compared to Apple's 14.6 million iPads and Android tablet sales of 28.2 million.
