Micro Drone 3.0, the world’s first fully customizable personal drone is now being developed out of London, England. Said to give users “flight in the palm of (their) hand”, this tiny drone will allow consumers to capture fantastic aerial photos and stream HD footage to a cell phone or tablet.

A successful Indiegogo campaign is now underway for the device, and should production go according to plan, developers say the gadget will retail for around $99, with an expected initial special sale price of $50 for campaign backers.

The Micro Drone 3.0 will be flown using a 2.4 GHz remote control to be included at purchase, or a smartphone/tablet over WiFi.

Flown inside, the drone will be able to be protected by bumpers.

Outside, the range for remote control flight will be 300ft (~91m), with the camera module able to record video to an onboard Micro SD memory card up to this distance.

Live streaming to a smartphone or tablet will be more restricted with a range of up to 50ft.

In order to get those impressive images, the Micro Drone 3.0 is currently able to obtain up to 8 minutes of continuous flying time on its own.

When accessories are attached air time decreases to about 6 minutes, or 7 minutes with the Expansion Pack and camera, numbers that developers say they are working on improving as production develops.

What are the specs?

Photo resolution for the Micro Drone 3.0 will be 1280 x 720 pixels, with image file size for each photo typically between 30KB and 100KB.

Video will be shot on the drone in 720p at approximately 100MB/s. It will be recorded as AVI format with an MJPG codec and a frame rate of 30fps, with a 14.6 Mbps bitrate.

Audio recording will have a PCM codec with a 128Kbps bitrate and CBR bitrate mode.

Making it easy to use, the Micro Drone 3.0 will come with a USB recharging dock and easy-to-remove quick release wireless batteries, for straight forward removal and installation.

The inventors of the Micro Drone 3.0 are optimistic with over 3000% of their original campaign funded, and over $3 million USD raised for this one.

Get in on the drone action and enjoy a conservative shipping date of November 2016- just in time for the holiday season.
