Oh i am getting so frsutrated.

I have had a MCE Streaming to a few xboxs in my home for the last year.
This past weekend, one of the 360s stopped streaming(i can browse my recorded tv, and see pics, but Live TV and music just show a black screen with no image or audio. I get the same if i try to stream a recorded show.

Last night NONE of my extneders work anymore.

I hunkered down this morning and did a fresh install of Windows 7, and got it working again, but then it stopped with the same issues, once i ran Windows Update, installed Adobe flash, silverlight and Java.

I am at a loss of what is causing this.. i would think if it wasn any of the updates, it would affect a lot more than just me....

anyone have any suggestions?

That is odd. Do you have any antivirus or firewall software that is maybe updating itself and blocking Media Center from streaming?

Also, I assume that the recordings play back fine on the media center PC itself?

I disabled the firewall/antivirus as a first trouble shooting step.
Nothing has changed on the router either.

The pre recorded stuff does NOT stream.. same black screen no audio; i can SEE it, but not play it.

I know there is communication between the servers and the extenders.. and like i said when i re-installed, everything worked.. up until i started the windows updates..

I also tried a Vista install last night and same thing.. everything seemed to work fine.. up until Silverlight install... I think that is the issue..

Weird! Your system was working fine and then stop.
The latest Silverlight update on my system was installed 19 feb ver. 4.0.60129.0; maybe a previous version is available from MS but I don't understand how Silverlight be the problem. If you created an image before reinstalling Windows it would be probably easier to reinstalled it and uninstalled the Silverlight update.

Have you tried deleting and reactivating the extender?

Two sites that may have answers;
Thegreenbutton and hack7mc
I could also add Answers from MS but I rarely find answers there!

I have been trolling Hack7mc as well as TGB,but havn't found anything..

I have deleted and reinstalled the extenders.. and even did the OS a few times now.. (just finished another vista install)

It is working now but only without installing updates. I will take an image of what i have and start installing one component at a time to see where it is breaking :(

more troubleshooting.. it seems that the problem is with the windows network conjestion manager.. it is detecting that the network is too busy to stream. It's a GB network end to end..and totally wired, and the network tuner is showing top of the line in the graph .... is there a tweak i can make to this ?

It sounds as if your network cable or router/switch is going bad. 1 Change your ethernet cable or switch to wifi. 2 use different ports in your router. Only have the server and 1 extender in the router when you test. 3) replace the router/switch. 4) I never updat emy htpc that does my media extender service because once something is working, I don't "fix it" with updates. Mind you I limit the server's subnet to only stay on the network and never go out to the internet and this helps avoid malware.
