A large number of Cogeco cable customers in central west Windsor are without service for now. The company says one of its fibre optic lines has been severed. It affects the area North of Tecumseh Road between Ouellette and Huron Church road. Cogeco says technicians are working on the problem and reconnections should begin after 10 PM.

A few different people I knew were all effected, all who live downtown. One restaurant we went to was cash only since I guess their card system is setup over the internet only.

The area north of Tecumseh Road West, east of Huron Church Road and west of Ouellette Avenue was affected.

Cogeco sourced the fibre damage to the corner of Bruce and Wyandotte West. A crew was in the process of putting in new cable fibre Friday night. Due to the complexity of the fiber splicing process, it was anticipated that residents in the affected area would be connected starting from 10 p.m. through to 1 a.m.

I'm not sure if this was related, but where I work, which is around the Walker and Tecumseh Rd area, we lost our Internet at 2:30pm on Friday, and the word we were getting was that it was Cogeco's fault. When I left at 5pm it was still out.
