I have not seen any mention of the new Canwest Global series Lost Girl here. Anyone watching it?

It seems like an interesting effort to put many fantasy type creatures into today's world, living a parallel existance similar to that of many vampire shows. Certainly it does not hurt that the lead is pretty hot!

The first episode we saw was #4, and we came in about 1/3 of the way in. What was happening at that point made me thing this was a soft core porn show, not unlike shows like Hung. Having since watched the first three episodes, it seems that the show is trying to be much more than that, and the explicit nudity in episode 4 was new for the series.

My only negative comment about the show is that it is not quite as polished as similar US shows. Can't really fault the show for this - although we have lots and lots of talent in Canada, I am not sure that the talent gets the opportunity to develop and prosper. At least, not if the talent is to remain in Canada.....

The show is filmed in and around Toronto, and this is not hidden at all. Not that a blatently Canadian shows makes it worth watching, but I do like seeing Canadian shows that don't try to hide their origins. That is always a positive in my mind....does nothing for the storyline or acting, but it does matter to some of us.

In the FWIW column, we are enjoying Lost Girl more than the new Hawaii 5-0.....

Anyone else picked up on this Canadian gem?

Sort of like it...

It's become one of those PVR shows for when nothing else is on. My wife likes it. My only complaint is that the same episode is several times a week.

I've enjoyed it as well. And it's Canadian!
Good news for fans: Shaw Media just announced that they've ordered another season.
