the wife watches only fairchild on 181 or 182. we lost both channels for 4 hours after the last rain, in vancouver we have a lots of rains. today after some rain it is gone again. all other channels including 180 and 183 are fine. shaw guy is coming Jan. 2 to check on signal quality . just about to call bell to reactivate satellite account. does anyone have this kind of partial channel lost?

I noticed channel 136 (DIY Network) went down once or twice a few days ago. I'm not sure about other channels but I'm guessing that it was a system wide temporary outage.

There is a way on your STB to check signal quality:
1. Turn off the power
2. press the select button
3. scroll down then select d04 (Inband Status)
4. Look at the "SNR" right under frequency and there you should see numbers fluctuating. Mine right now says 36.6 db which is good.

there might be another method that a Shaw tech uses but this is a way that you can check yourself what your signal strength is.

Oh and BTW this method is for the Motorola STB's. If you have a pace STB then the steps might be different.
