I have a Samsung PN50C6500 Plasma TV, and as of the firmware update from around Nov 11th it has a built-in Netflix Canada app that works nicely. Samsung Canada has a complete list of supported TVs on their web site, but to save you some work, here is the list of the ones that currently support Netflix:

NakedGord that list does not agree with what DanBCman received. For now I will leave it unless the website changes.
Thanks for fixing my link. My home net right now is my phone so I had to type it out by hand...errr thumb.

The reason for the list being different is why I was into an official link. I wouldn't be suprised if Dan's reply was from a CS rep in India who just gave him the US info who thought it was the same for Canada or whatever.

The info was from a rep whom I would guess was in Atlanta anyways because of the way I asked for the info she actually got a hold of thier Samsung list they have for Canadian rights which means they are approved for Canada as I told her I am not willing to buy one only to return it because the there list on the net is mixed up with USA models
It should be noted the email came after the call about 30 mins which I thought was a great follow up for a none customer service call?

Thanks for the clarification Dan. It is possible some of the models are not sold in Canada but have the capability to be cross-flashed and access Netflix.ca.

If anyone has Toshiba or Insignia (Best Buy) models I will add it to the 1st post. I will try to take some time today to search their websites. Also, I will start a little clean up of this thread once the relevant information has been incorporated and verified.

J0dest3r that could be possible. The model I listed explicitly mentioned Netflix firmware for Canada. The others do not appear on the Canada version of the website. As we have all discovered the information is only getting out in dribs and drabs.

Only the ones in the list. Windows Phone is also supported according to Neflix. I will have to ask another mod here to check that out for me as I am not current on the latest mobile phones.

Windows Phone 7, iPhones, and iPads all have Netflix streaming apps and are listed as compatible devices on Netflix.ca. I haven't actually used any of these yet though.

Android has been announced as 'coming soon' but apparently they have to set up the DRM on a phone-by-phone basis. Expect to see flagship, high-end phones get it first, among those already out in Canada my guess would be Nexus One, Galaxy S series, and HTC Desire Z. If you're using a Motorola Charm, for example, I wouldn't be holding my breath, but you never know. If it is similar enough to a different phone they're working on that they can port the DRM model easily, then maybe Charm owners will get lucky. Much of it will likely depend on which manufacturers are the most cooperative and which phones are the easiest to set up.

To my knowledge there are no plans for a first-party app on BlackBerrys at the moment.

Some corrections/additions to the list:

I am not sure that you still need Xbox Live Gold - I don't think I have this and I am able to use Netflix on the Xbox360.

The Sage HD-200 and HD-300 Media Extenders can access Netflix Canada via PlayOn. I believe many other devices may also be able to access Netflix this way as it is a UPnP media server that should work with any DLNA compatible device. This should include WDTV Live, XBMC, etc.

Thanks Wayne. For the purpose of this thread we will restrict the hardware to native playback. For anyone reading search for PlayOn here at DH to find the discussions. I will note the XBOX change.

@Jake - maybe I was wrong - I signed up for Netflix Canada on Friday. I installed it on my Xbox on Saturday and I have used it several times over the last few days. Today I went to use it and the Xbox wanted to do an upgrade for Neflix Canada - when I went back in it said I needed Xbox Gold. Since I don't have any other reason to need Xbox Gold it seems a bit much to pay $9/month when Netflix is only $8.

Wayne,

While the WDTV Live and Live Plus have Netflix on it they state on the box still that this is only available for US residents. It is of a huge disappointment to most that they have not adapted and created a firmware for adding Netflix Canada onto it.

Have you tried accessing it through PlayOn? Assuming that PlayOn can access Netflix Canada, which it can (although for some reason there was a problem with this last night) and the WDTV Live and Live Plus can see the PlayOn server then this should work.

Give it a try as you can use PlayOn free for the first couple of weeks or so.

It is not ideal as the UI is not that nice but it is better than nothing?
