Hello .... I ported over my old number and my LG G6 now responds to the ported-over number fine, however, the 'My Number' setting on the LG still shows a number that Freedom Mobile initially assigned to me. Shouldn't this 'My Number' setting change automatically to the ported-over number? Or does anyone know to fix it, thanks
There is an edit button at the bottom right of each post (on my browser) The option times out after 12 hours.
You may need to contact your current service provider to change the number display and name display. I'm pretty sure you need to contact them to change the name display - although you can change the name of the phone, I don't think that changes the name display that others see.
I don't see any edit options unless Edit tags is it? I did try the service provider clueless as it gets. I'm not talking about people who I call can't see my number I'm talking about on your phone where it shows you your number, on mine it shows what they gave me when I hooked up with them but a few minutes later I ported my number but my number doesn't show on my phone only what they gave me does. I hope that makes sense
For me, it's just to the left of the "Quick Reply" button. The answer seems to be that you need at least 5 posts before it shows and that there is a 12 hour time limit.

What happens when you call the two numbers? Does the phone ring on the ported number or the temporary number? If on the temporary number then the number port may not have yet taken place. It may take several hours for the number port to take effect. In any case, I would wait at least 24 hours. If the number port hasn't happened after a day or two, something may have gone wrong.
In Settings/About Phone there is a place to edit the phone name. The phone number cannot be edited. There may also a personal information field on the lock screen that can be edited.
It's now over 2 weeks. I just see the original number they gave me and really that number was just to activate their service once that happens I ported my number. I just find it weird my number isn't showing
the number that shows in "my telephone number" on your sim card or phone is purely cosmetical and does NOT affect the number people call you on. yes it CAN be fixed but it also works just fine if its the incorrect number. if it really bothers you, you can call your provider and ask for a "Re-Send to Switch" and it should re-provision your sim card numbers. worst case there are some aftermarket phones out there which let you "edit" the value stored in this field on your sim card, but most carrier provided phones have that option greyed out for some reason. all in all, i would not bother, and just leave it as is.
@Paul905 what style do you have applied to digitalhome. There is a style pulldown at the bottom left of the forum. I have digitalhome classic and see the edit function.
Edit: never mind I selected one of the other styles and the edit button was still there
@17671 ... I wish it was that easy Freedom tech support is pretty bad they're clueless but it like you said it isn't a big deal. I just thought maybe it wouldn't be so difficult to change it. I guess it is, oh well....
Sometimes the networks will have scripts that run occasionally to synchronize provisioning to different nodes, the network may periodically send a "hit" to your sim card from the central HLR, this will update the SIM Card and overwrite any outdated information including your phone number, etc. But yes if you want it done like right then and there, your only option would be to phone the clueless people at freedom tech support even if you dread speaking to them.
My last post just above this I finally see the edit option, thx lol
