Tom Cruise lost lots of credibility with his couch dance all those years ago on Oprah. He seems to have discovered that "goofy Tom" (a la Tropic Thunder) is more palettable to movie goers now. So we have Knight and Day. Cruise plays Roy Miller, an insanely cheerful 007 type who crosses paths with ordinary citizen June Haven (Cameron Diaz).

The whole movie has a playful feel to it. The action sequences are silly CGI-enhanced over the top affairs. The story is preposterous. But the whole thing works because nothing seems to be taken that seriously.
