In my experience K3b has always been at the forefront of Linux-based CD/DVD burning apps, and the newest version is even better. BD burners are getting much cheaper, and KDE users can now go ahead and compile/install the new version 2.0, which now features Blu-ray writing!

Assuming you don't run KDE or you prefer precompiled packages, your distro's package manager should install it when your distro makes it available, as well as all the necessary KDE 4.0x dependencies for it so that it will run perfectly on Gnome, XFCE, LXDE, etc.
