Your concerns are valid, and I share them. Im looking for a definitive fix here, or some formal assurances of warranty care from Starchoice. Previously it has been posted that Starchoice will 'look after' units until a valid code is working, but I would love Starchoice to actually confirm this and give us a timeframe. I am not looking forward to a 'successfully engineered unit' that I have to spend another 800$ to buy to replace my current 530.

caller id and CC
I have been reading all these posts and thinking how lucky I have been that since the cc download my 530 has been running well, when it occured to me that I have not seen a single call displayed since the download.
Having read the posts again, it seems that the caller id function has suffered most. I dont even want to try a factory reset incas I jinx what seems to be a relatively stable code, for me anyway. Other than the caller id, my box seems to ok. Timers and trick modes seem fine, but I have been recording minimally. I guess the next few weeks will test the machines with the new fall shows et al!
Question: is the CC code still outhere, or is it in hold b/c of errors. Still unsure. I guess we wont know if the testing crew are still testing eh?
Any pm's would be greatly appreciated.

Last night I really put the 530 through its paces.
I must have recorded 6hrs of HD programming, paused, fast forwarded, jumped, stopped and played recorded content all while recording on another channel.
I didnt have a single glitch. Touch wood
I am very happy with the new code, and am eagerly awaiting Christmas for an extended guide and more HD content!

Last night I really put the 530 through its paces.

extended timers?
Just a question/statement, but back in the UK about 10 years ago, I had a vcr. Yeah really , anyway, this vcr had a little button. When I pressed this button in conjunction with a timed recording, it read a signal that was embedded into the broadcast. If the show started early or finished late, the timer AUTOMATICALLY adjusted itself. I honestly forget what this feature was called but it was amazing. It came standard on my standard muti region vcr (Aiwa I think). So, here is my question....where did that go? Hasnt technology been able to keep up with changeable guides, emergency news alerts etc that throw off timers. We really should not be losing the tail end of shows...should we?

My unit would not boot. Blue cycling lights forever! Then, as if b magic it started! I called starchoice, we did my first factory reset since May 05 and I seem to be running okay again. Nevertheless, I did lose 4 episodes of Battlestar Galactica aaarg! and a few movies,,,but
I hope its okay, but prior to that I had 26 reboots, according to the diagnostic menu. Keeping fingers crossed!

I called for my in-laws yesterday to activate a 505 replacement for a 500. The first CSR knew nothing... infact the HD channels didnt even activate and she couldnt figure it out, so she transferred me to a tsr, and he sent a 'hit' which fixed it up fine...however....more to the point...I asked both reps if they knew when the new code was coming, and neither knew anything about any new code! The tsr said he thinks he read an email about 'airdrie', but has no clue when its coming.....
so... it is true that the csr'/tsr's are kept in the dark?
