A few things I have noticed so far. In options video adjustments I loose the screen and it goes back to normal video mode on both units. I don't know if this was on the previous software, in diagnostic D top left shows hours since last reset, to the right of this it shows number of resets. So far so good.

300BaudAcoustic I'm with you on that. My first receiver was a 921 way way back. I have two 530's and the one that had stable BC now has unstable CC I now have to reboot everyday. The other unit that went from A8 to CC has now locked up twice. If Starchoice doesn't fix at no charge when they finally are totally useless I will be giving my $120.00 month to Bell, and enjoy an inferior picture but at least it will be there.

I had the same problem with my 530. I changed coax, switched outputs and coax from the multiswitch to the other 530, and still the problem persisted. I had even recorded the same event on each 530 and only one would have sound dropouts. The last week I have also noticed jump ahead or back would cause the unit to freeze for a moment. Starchoice had done a few MR with and without harddrive erase, this would solve the problem for a few days. The unit seemed to work better with BC (maybe this is a cause of the problems I now have) but then it would sometimes drop recordings. Starchoice is now sending me a replacement.

Well my replacement 530 died today. I think it had a few issues from the start, it would take about 3 minutes to boot up after a reset and today I wanted to watch a show and it locked up and lost all recordings. Many things were tried to get the recordings back, but not a chance. This time I'm getting a new receiver. The other 530 that has had only 5 resets the last 8 months is now locking up every day, if this keeps up it may have to be replaced as well.

Starchoice has been very good regarding the issues I have had with the 530. I feel sorry for the CS people that have to deal with all the problems that they have no control over. I'm sure many of us have vented our frustrations at them!

In the end I wonder if they will end up replacing all of the first 1000 units.
