"Effective January 1st, 2015, the monthly rate for your services will be $40.99."
Was $37.55, so my increase will be $3.44.

That's 2 coffees per month, so Tim's loses out to Shaw, as I still want NFL!

In January after the football package comes off the bill it will be 69 bucks a month, thats with the increase.

I'm not complaining.

Salaries go up, fuel prices were up significantly until recently, vehicle maintenance, the leasing cost of satellites probably goes up (I don't think SD owns their satellites), operating call centres & phones, etc...

SD's costs have increased over the years, just as ours have.

None of my other utility bills has remained constant, so why should our TV bill not have increased over the past 5 years?

It's called Inflation.

I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

Once everyone gets connected to IPTV (such as Bell), those costs will go up too.

The cheapest alternative right now, is OTA antenna TV.

You only get local channels (no movie channels or sports channels), but once you've paid for the installation, there is no monthly bill :) :) :)
Inflation is understandable. An increase is understandable. It's the amount that they increase per year that is bothersome. Like I said, my bill for the same service has increased $25 in (4 or) 5years. At 5 years, that's $5 per. WAY too much!

Inflation is not 6%, yet my rates are going up that amount.

I don't mind the increase in costs if only the 630's worked like they were suppose to. It is getting more frustrating all the time with reboots and lock ups. Will my program be watchable or even record. You want more money for that?

^^^I've never had as many lockups/reboots as I am getting now. Almost always while something is recording, so i miss a good chunk. So nice that i then need to go "find" that show somewhere else to watch it in full. And then have to pay more to SD for this.

Mine is increasing by $2.61 plus $0.39 tax for a total of $3.00. I too am tired of constant increases coupled with SD's inability to fix problems with their hardware and/or software. I could live with a $3.00 increase if SD would find solutions to their ongoing problems. I would like to purchase a 630 but after reading so many posts regarding the problems with the 630 I have refused to purchase one. I don't need the headaches of constant rebooting and partially missed recordings.

Hey Shaw, maybe I would try one for $50.00. :p
Yeah......that's going to happen. ;)

My "Vacation" deal is going from $20.76 plus tax to $25.98 plus tax. Time for me to close it down for a 6 month period and save about $180 a year. Vacation package for $350'ish per year for a couple of months use? I guess I should remove the 600 backup receiver and save the $6 multi rcvr fee.

I think they could get away with a price increase if they added a lot of HD channels to justify it. It's ridiculous that in 2015 so many channels are still not offered in HD.

I completely agree Jocosta, there are channels that other providers have that are obviously approved for Canada that we don't have. The new commercial brags of 214 HD channels. To get that you count all the NFL,NBA, and NHLCI channels as well as pay pr view. Unless there's a game on or you are made of money and can pay for all of it there is nothing on those channels.

The price increase inspired me to go to my account/change programming and take a close look. I dropped to a cheaper package with 2 less bundles, but lost only 1 channel I really wanted. Picked it back up with a pick n pay and also added encore ave. HD. Saved 5 bucks a month and gained a channel. I felt that some of that price increase was due to picking up the slack for all the subs they lost over the last year.
