Hi ... I'm a total newbie here , just got my first ever HDTV and yesterday I just hook everything up . First off sorry if this has been asked before but is it normal on some channels though not many the picture screen isn't full view and on some channels it doesn't even seem to be in HD and the picture doesn't look so good ? Has this got anything to do with the TV settings ? Thanks

If the black is on the sides or sides and top and bottom, that means that the show is not in HD and you are watching on a HD channel. If the top and bottom are only black, it means that the show or channel is broadcasting it that way and is on SD channel. You can stretch but then you will miss stuff.

Not all channels are HD and HD Channels are HD. If the channel you are watching is SD, then the picture will not look so good as you are watching SD and not HD.
