I didn't read those links, but I'm guessing you've tried doing a hard-reset (basically reboot) of the Nano?

I had this happen to my 3G (fatty) nano a few times, and each time, it was simply a matter of rebooting the iPod, Mac, or both (can't remember which it was that finally made it work, but it did).

Any chance you have another Mac (or Windows) machine to try the iPod on? Maybe an older version of iTunes on another machine?

If by hard reset you mean pressing the Menu & centre button, then yes. I would like to restore it to original settings, but of course one can only do that in iTunes

Maybe I'll try it on another computer, but if it's not authorized to use my Nano, is there any point? I just don't understand why two iPods would work but one wouldn't. Doesn't make any sense. Plus, the Library itself hasn't changes, just the hard drive.
