Yeah, I saw that and halted the download. I'll wait for 4.0.2

I wonder if this will slow down my 3G even moreso than iOS 4.0...

I installed it last night. Like everyone has said the only change is the bars. Now the size of the bars displayed is actually bigger than before. The smallest bar is about double the size.

My 3G is a good paperweight ever since 4.0

I am sure Apple knew this and it is one of the ways to force people to buy the iPhone 4.

Quite a piss off...

I have heard that iOS 4.0.1 helps restore some of the functionality (speed) of the iPhone 3G. I have yet to update but will report back when I do. If other 3G owners find a benefit with the new OS please post your results.

My 3G is no faster or slower. Just the visual changes, but no problems either.

SJ, during his press conference, also mentioned it fixing a bug with using Outlook Exchange ... but I don't know exactly want that was about,

My bro-in-law said that the "fix" for Exchange caused his Exchange account to stop working properly - the same account that had been working just fine previously on his iPhone4 with 4.0.
Oops!

No more easy jailbreaking just by visiting a site. I bet the Apple Stores and Best Buys are quite happy with this update. The stories of people jailbreaking the demo models in the stores were funny.

Any 3G owners care to provide feedback about the alleged 3G performance?

querty - you might need to change that date in the title (if it's supposed to be for today)

I did the update on 2 phones - 3GS and ip4. The 3GS was fast and easy (may be because I had synced it just before the update?), while the ip4 had to go through unsuccessful restore attempts, then a computer restart, and, although it was restored from a backup, all music and photos had to be copied again for some reason, which took more than an hour. Anyway, I think it would be helpful before the update to do a sync.
I had a bluetooth problem with the car deck with the introduction of iOS4 on both phones, and it looks like it is OK now. Worth the upgrade trouble.
I didn't see any TV shows for rent on iTunes, though. Is that just for the US?
Also, the 2 HDR pictures I took seemed kind of too bright, compared to the original, but the light conditions were really poor, so maybe that was actually intended. It's nice they introduced the option of saving both HDR and regular version in order to select for keeping one of them later.
