Apple today claimed that it's iOS devices sell more portable games than its two main rivals put together. Certainly with the new hardware specs and GameCentral, it has raised the bar for portable gaming.

Just like Wii took gaming out of the teenager's bedroom and into the newly minted segment of casual gamer, perhaps Apple has taken portable gaming out of the hands of nine-year-olds and into the mainstream.

I don't think this is very accurate to be honest (i know steve said it, but doesn't really make it true)

I'm sure more game type apps were downloaded on the ios devices, but that doesn't really equate to being the best gaming platform

Now compare the amount of money spent on games...

I have TONS of games on my iPhone, and the most expensive one cost me $5. I'd say 80-85% are things I got for free (thanks to one-day promos, mostly). With that said, I haven't turned on my DS since I started playing games on my iPhone.

Subject is iOS gaming devices outsell Nintendo and Sony combined

So was Steve saying Apple has sold more devices like the subject is implying or was he saying more apps.

When I said Jobs is playing the same tricks as Google, I meant that he probably takes a selected period of time, most likely the last quarter, and says "Look, we sold more than you for the last three months, therefore we have more market share." Ignoring, of course, life-to-date sales.
