Owners started getting iffy reception on channels, then only a handful of channels would work, then ultimately nothing. Visual inspection of cables seem intact, and view of sky was cleared of branches, even though dish had a very clear view to begin with. Owner tested signals (prior to my arrival) indicating strong signal on satellite 91, but middling to nothing on 82.

We then replaced a feeder (2 of them at base of dish), but no change. Swapped all 3 with no change, so presume they work. Tests of the signal during these swaps showed 100% solid on 91, and 0% solid on 82 on all transponders.

Looking back, that in itself seems odd to me. Is it even possible to always have 100% on 91, for hours? I would have expected some minor dips, especially as you change transponders. Makes me wonder if the problem is at the box itself.

Next part on order is a "splitter", or more accurately a "combiner" in my view as it appears to take the signal from the 2 feeders into a single cable into the cottage.

Quoting myself, just to close out this thread - hate to see issues raised with no resolution.

Wasn't there, but the splitter/combiner was replaced with no change. In-laws bought a new receiver box, which returned half the channels. The satellite was then relocated, and a new cable run to the house, and all is good now.

Given the above, some of what I heard about the issue doesn't make sense, but just wanted to close this out. Thanks all for the replies along the way.

Ok … so repointed my dish and now have great reception on 91 … but can’t see 82. I’ve read that once you have 91, 82 is a simple adjustment. 2 hours later still trying ! LOL. I’ve a little above and below my elevation angle, tried moving my polarization sideways …. And I am left always coming back to my original 91 setting. Any thoughts ?

Hi guys,

Trying to determine the cause of my
Newly installed Bell Dish and HD receiver only picking up Satellite 91 and not 82. When pointing the dish I used a legacy LNB installed in the 91 side of the yoke and a SD receiver. After installing the new DPP Quad and HD receiver I still only have 91 and can’t seem to get 82. I have 100 percent signal strength on 91. I was pretty sure that it was due to a tree in the way and have since done some tree trimming. When looking at transponder 5 satellite 82, I am getting a message that I am on the wrong satellite. Funny thing is that I seem to have all SD channels. Please see attached pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do a check switch with the new DPP LNB?
I did run a check switch after installing the DPP LNB. Even disconnected the satellite in cable at the receiver and tried another check switch after reconnecting. What are the different transponders?Any idea why on Satellite 82 transponder 5 I have the wrong satellite Nimiq 91? I currently seem to have all SD channels on 91 without any issues.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the help. In examining the lnb, I see it has two coax jacks on one side and one on the other. Which do I use to hook to my 9241, and what is the third jack for?

This photo is not of the actual dish

In an older thread I read a couple of posts that stated that on a dual (or two separate) lnb dish, when standing behind the dish the LNB on the left is for the 91 sat and the one on the right is for 82. I.E. the left one (91) is on the east side of the arm and 82 on the west. Doesn't make sense to me as the azimuth (for my location) has the 91 at about 181* which is a shade west of due south and the 82 is at about 175* which is east of due south. Am I missing something?

I am trying to set up a dish for my daughter. It is a 20" dish with two legacy LNB's and a SW21. I tried to use the same settings I have at home. For my area the elevation should be 33-34*. I am at 37*. The azimuth should be 181* for 91 and 175* for 82. I am at 177*. Skew should be 95*. I am at 90*. Clear day 100% on 91, 85% on 82.
I could not get a signal at my daughters place. I started at 34* elevation and 182* azimuth and rotated to 172* a pencil line width at a time. Then went up on elevation a degree at a time until I ended up at 38*, rotating the azimuth each time by ten degrees. No signal.
Then I took the SW21 out of play and tried the LNB's separately. I got a 100% signal on the east LNB (left from behind the dish. Dish point menu said 91 sat. Only 2 pages of programming (music) and no sound. I switched to the other LNB and got zero. No further changes, quit for the day. Two days later I went back. I fired up the receiver and the 91 that showed 100% now shows 0%. I am at a loss at how I lost signal when I made no changes.
When I did a check switch it showed DPP Twin . When I did a check switch with the SW21 in play it showed as a SW44 with signal on 91 (even though the signal strength was still zero.
When I had difficulty at home I did a check switch 3 consecutive times with different info coming up each time. Third time matched my install and came up with very good signal strength.
Can the LNB's and SW 21 at my daughter's place be faulty?
I've done several successful installs over the years.
I'm on the verge of hiring a pro installer.

Anybody here use the sidingsaver dish mount bracket? As far as I can tell from the picture and installation instructions, it only uses the four corner holes on the mast, not the two center holes. Is that the case and if so, is it solid enough to not worry about mounted that way?
