I think if you were in the jungle, malnourished and exausted on both the physical and mental side...suddenly seeing someone you love would have that affect on just about everyone.

I also noticed this season they didn't have many physical head-to-head challenges between the two tribes (the only one I can remember is the catch-the-launched-ball which Ometepe dominated). I remember for the last few seasons, the first few challenges were extremely physical and a few players got injured... I wonder if they scaled back those physical challenges because too many people were getting hurt.

Had there been more physical-contact challenges, that would've put Ometepe at a huge disadvantage compared to the other tribe.

That firefighter lady on the other tribe probably could've tackled Rob's entire harem by herself. :p

1.Jeff Probst blogged recently about how people on TV don't understand that the family unifications are very emotional. These people aren't away that long, yes; but they're there deprived of all human comforts, no Internet, no phone, no newspapers, barely any food, and the only people they're with are plotting to remove them from the game. It gets very lonely.

2. Thank God they removed that bit where they "honour their fallen comrades". Please. Their fallen comrades are watching the show from their couches eating potato chips.

3. I'm actually glad they don't waste too much time talking to everybody. Face it, some people we already forgot about and we don't need to be reminded. This show centres mainly around a core of 7-9 key people.

4. I agree with Russel's comment that Jeff wasn't asking the tough questions. He should have said to Ralph, and the others from his tribe, "how do you feel now about throwing the challenge. That cost you the game."

5. I had no idea whom that chick was who got proposed to either. Took up a good 4 minutes of viewing time.

6. I'm glad that Rob won. Two or three seasons ago I was ranting when Russell should have won, but lost the game because his other tribe mates were offended that he betrayed them. I said then, that Russell played the game. Rob did play a great game this time around. There was no one else who deserved to win. I'm glad the voters agreed. Rob picked the best two people to go up against, and he saw that very early on. Of course, as I said earlier, Rob has played four times....he should know the strategy by this point.

7. There is NO number 7.

Just want to point out that the "honour the fallen comrades" bit would be shown on the finale which means the fallen comrades would probably be watching backstage of the live reunion show :)

Does anyone happen to know WHY Jeff required the losing contestants on Redemption island to throw their buffs in the fire on the way out?

Why couldn't they keep them?

Most likely symbolic... before it was when your torch is snuffed out, you're out of the game. Now, when your buff is burned out, you're out of the game.

+1 on that. I was sitting poised with remote in hand ready to fast forward through that part. Happy I did not have to. Maybe they finally realized that it was boring.

Jeff Probst reported that the "walk of fallen comrades" did take place, but was cut from the show due to time issues. It is up on the Survivor site if anyone wants to see it.
