Last week I accidentally hit my laptop screen hard and the picture intantly deteriorated into vertical and horizontal lines (I'm now using a seperate monitor). One corner of the screen has since cleared and some of the lines are slowly starting to disappear. Could the screen still come back, or if not, is the screen repairable at a cost that would be worth it?

I think a repair would be greater than the cost of a new laptop. In my case, I dropped it and the corner of the screen was damaged. Over a period of 3 months it started to get better, then got worse and worse until the display totally failed.

Could you describe how it looks more? (or even better, a picture?)
If you're lucky, the screen is just depressed and may release over time
(think of a calculator, if you've ever pressed your finger on the screen)
The protective sheet over the actual LCD might have been pushed in and is still adhered. It may release over time.

Replacement laptop displays are available on eBay for popular (and some not-so popular) models/brands. i replaced the display on my Thinkpad for $60 a few years ago; it would have been $700 getting the part from IBM/Lenovo at the time.
