I live in Shawinigan, Quebec. It was working fine this morning, but when I got back from home, I tried to turn the receiver on and nothing happens. There is no sound at all. No fan. No HDD noise, nada. I really don't understand. I called support and they could see my receiver but it looks like the power supply is dead. I've tried to plug it alone and not on a powerbar, same thing. ARGH!!! Is there a way to retrieve my recorded shows? And how could they get a signal from a dead receiver?

I rented the receiver and there is a technician coming this monday to check it out. I hope they do not charge me to replace it when I get another Motorolla 6416.

There's no charge to replace a rental receiver. If you're lucky you might get the new Pace RNG200N with a 500GB hard drive, but there's no way of knowing what the tech will bring.

Thanks! That's a relief to know that. I didn't know Cogeco had new receivers, is it the same guide and everything? I'll check this out but my guess is that the new receivers are only available for Ontario, I'll propably get a refurbished 6416.

Same guide software (i-Guide), but the new Pace boxes are a bit faster and snappier :)

The Pace RNG200N was actually being distributed in Quebec before Ontario, so there is a chance you'll get one. But you'll have better odds of getting the RNG200N if you bring the defective box into a Cogeco store to exchange it. (You could always see if the tech brings one, and if not, take the replacement you're given to the Cogeco store :p)

Here's a bit more info on this receiver: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=1176443&postcount=12 (And this thread in general: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=132093)

Just note that there ain't no "store" in Quebec, there are kiosks but they don't usually have any inventory ... Chances are that you'll get a RNG200N mainly because the 6416 stocks are very low in Quebec. Just ask the technician to get the RNG200N anyways to be sure...

And as DavidT said, there are no fee to replace a broken rented unit.

Nice! Thanks DavidT and Ratatosk for your replies. Well, since there is no official replacement stores in Quebec, I hope I'll get the RNG200N. But do all the technicians actually keep all the type of receivers in their trucks? I think he's going to bring the same unit (6416 or RNG200N) just in case. But it's definately dead. Anyway the RGN200N looks like a good and sleek receiver! I'll give you an update as soon as he leaves :)
