Hi,

I have been interacting with VOIP.ms support. They are nice but the main issue remains either using value/premium routings, mainly when calling Brazil:

From the same location/machine placing a call using skype I get excellent sound quality, similar to landlines. When using VOIP.ms call quality is very, very bad:

a) Other party claims sound cracks, lags, very, very hard to understand,
b) Our side sometimes is ok, most of the time the same issues, almost impossible to have a friends phone call, least of all a business one.

I already tried different servers New York, Atlanta.... Current bandwidth is 16MB and excellent quality - or skype would also have issues.

Can someone share some info I could input to my configuration to make it all work ?

In the past I received excellent contribution from this forum.

Thank you all so much !

Does the problem happen when you are calling within North America as well, or only on calls to Brazil? If it's only on calls to Brazil it's likely a carrier issue which can only be fixed by VoIP.ms.

If you haven't already, I would make some test calls to the US and Canada over a few days (not just one or two) and see if you ever notice the same behaviour.

Hi Mango,

Apreciate your suggestion.

No real issues whatsoever when calling US and toll free numbers.

VOIP claims they have been changing routings for some numbers, but this process has been going on for weeks.

Hopefully they wil have it all sorted out. Difference between skype and VOIP.ms is huge. The former allows crystal clear conversations, while VOIP is hit or miss, most of the time a huge fail.

If there is anyone else experiencing issues with Brazil I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

You may be interested in a VoIP provider called CallWithUs. One advantage to them is that you may select by yourself the route you wish to use. If you don't like a route, you can use a different one without any interaction from their support.

They're not a full-service VoIP provider, for example, they don't offer 911 and they don't port DIDs in. So it may not be a good solution for you but I mention it just in case.

Update - Brazil / Sao Paulo destination quality calls

Just to inform that VOIP has changed its routes to Brazil and quality now is great, as good as Skype has ever had, crystal clear.

Issues as cracking sounds, other party complaining of delays, etc are now history.

I am glad I can rely on this provider and thank you all for the assistance received here.

Cheers.
