When going on vacation, can I unplug my 6131 and eHD for an extended period of time, like 10 to 21 days?

A related question, what happens when the power returns after an unexpected power failure?

Will the system automatically restart without problems when the power is turned on? Would the eHD require a reformat, and would it lose all the previously recorded events?

I know that at the least, the new program guide would have to be downloaded.
Are there any other problems that I can expect?

These units usually work fine if the external drive is on before the PVR box comes on. If both are off for a long time, it is fine as long as you plug in the drive first and let it spin up.

Best practice is to at least put the drive on a UPS but better to put both on one. A short power outage, especially when recording, could cause the loss of everything. Risk level is unknown.

If your receiver is powered off for that long, it will likely lose its authorization which means you will need to call Bell when you return and have them re-authorize it, or do it online yourself. However, removing power shouldn't cause it to lose any previously recorded programming or settings.

UPS Power Backup

I like the UPS Power backup, not only for power outages, but for protection from spikes and/or dropouts. I have the PVR's, EHD and the Sw44 power supplies all on UPS's and its much more stable than before. For vacation, I leave it all running so it doesn't miss any recordings or loose any authorization or updates.
