Please give us the laptop's manufacturer, model number, and model name as well as the same info about your home theatre receiver so that we can look up their specifications and ports layout or whether HDMI is an option to TOSLINK optical SPDIF output.

Toshiba satellite L675-019 it has one HDMI output.
Home theater receiver is an old Sony STR-DE975 with many optical inputs.
It's in use with a Seagate Goflex TV at this moment.

I guess what i'mk asking is if there's some kind of adaptor that extracts the audio feed from HDMI and outputs it opticaly.

Well i use my laptop for other uses too, so shutting audio off might not be the best option.
For the sake of audio video sychro, if it was all HDMI, maybe it would be better?

Maybe an HDMI "splitter" could also have optic out?
