i have searched over the forum on everything related to this tv, to hitachis in general, and to all the info about ic chips. i don't appear to have a convergence problem, but it may be something related. i don't know what exactly happened. my son was playing the xbox 360 on input 1. when you power the tv on now it goes straight to a black screen with green words saying "static mode" ..... i have found a remote that i can press input on and get the grid and can even play with it with the adjustment knobs inside the fron panel. i can not, however save it. i can not get out of this mode, or the static mode(other then getting to that grid) none of the other buttons such as the pip buttons, the number buttons, or any others i have found listed in the DCAM adjustment workthroughs seem to do anything. i can not find a blue button.....

my main questions would be, does this model have a blue button, or some other form of reset? or, if anyone has had this exact issues, was it a replacement of the ic chips or something else that solves it? i don't want to go spending money on things that don't fix it, when i could just buy another tv similar or better then it for a decent price

edit: it has sound, when i turn the 360 on i can hear it, but no picture other then the black screen with green writing

Sounds like you've already done some searching since you mention the blue button. This is usually a very small blue button, located (I believe on a very small silver box) near the left side of the chassis, when you open the front access panel of most Hitachi TVs. I'm not sure if this is applicable to your particular model. You press this little blue button briefly and it should take you into the DCAM convergence mode, instead of static mode. You should then be able to do the convergence, or perhaps exit from convergence if it looks OK. As always, when dealing with TVs, best left to service professionals and don't get electrocuted, or worse... ;)

Here are the relevant links:

If the convergence is bad, you'll need to replace the ICs and other relevant items, as discussed in the first link above. Read post 1 thoroughly and carefully if you have the problem and post there if you have questions.

You should never "play" with the knobs inside the front panel, especially the trimpots for colour adjustment. If you've turned those, you may never get a good picture again as they are very sensitive.

If you can't get out of the DCAM convergence once you're in there, you may be able to by simply turning off the TV, or perhaps by unplugging. Good luck.

ok, i will look more for the blue button tomorrow. IF it's still messed up after being unplugged all night. it just seems weird that it powers on in static mode and not just from pushing the focus magic button. is the screen with the grid part of the dcam? it's just a full grid over the whole screen, and i can adjust the blurriness and colors from the knobs inside, but i can advance to anything else or save it by the buttons on the remote. unfortunately, i have owned a few hitachis, and trying to use 2 different remotes, not knowing if they were even the one that came with that tv. but i will give it another shot tomorrow. also waiting on one of my service tech guys to call me back after seeing if he can find anything in a repair manual for this model.

found the blue button, took some very short video clips, rather then pics. i can't seem to find an exact match to someone having this problem. but maybe if someone sees something they recognize, or can tell it's the ic chips or something......
