Hey guys,

I need some help with my receiver. I just purchased a Paradigm DSP 3100 subwoofer. The problem I am having is I am not getting sound out of the sub. i do get the buzz and the cord goes into the sub. I even do the speaker test and it does not recognize it. I also did the thumb test on my sub cord and I get the buzz. Checked all my speaker configs and still nothing.

Could this be a faulty sub by paradigm?

If anyone has any ideas to try and fix this please let me know.

P.S I also tried hooking up my old Yamaha sub and it works fine.

Confirmed:
- connections are correct ("sub out" from your receiver to the right input on your sub, as per the owner's manual for a single-cable connection);
- the sub is powered on (fuse is OK); and
- the receiver and cable work fine with a different sub.

Suggestions:
- check the volume ("Subwoofer Level" - is it off or too low? Try "ten o'clock" for starters); and
- check the crossover ("Frequency Cut-Off" - set it to 150Hz).

If that doesn't work, check to see if the sub works using the speaker level inputs. (L+R speaker-level outputs from the receiver to the speaker-level inputs on the sub; then out from the sub's L+R speaker-level outputs to the speakers.)

Finally, try connecting your sub to another receiver's LFE output.
