HELP please>>>>this guy sold me a used "RENTED" 9241 and told me it was not!!!!!

this guy sold me a used "RENTED" 9241 and told me it was wiped and ready to go, I turned it on and I comfirmed that it was wiped and data erased. I called Bell and they told me its a rented unit.

I tried reaching the dude who sold it to me, he not returning my calls. I dont think I will be able to reach him, I think i got ^%#$ewed!!! : WHAT CAN I DO?

One of my friends told me I can erase the NVRAM and that will clean it from Bell's side and I should be able to use it... is this true?

They will still have it in their system inventory as a rented/stolen/lost unit. As such, they will not re-activate it. Your only recourse is to track down the guy who sold it to you.

There isn't much, apart from getting a couple of "connected" buddies to "convince" him to return the money. Retrieving money in this type of situation is extremely difficult by legal means. I've had people try similar stunts with me. Bell owns the receiver and you must give it back to them. The guy who sold it to you is a thief and a crook but I doubt the police or Bell will lay any charges.

Sorry to hear but Buying used equipment is always buyer beware hence why we have the thread that ScaryBob posted.
