We have three tv's in the house, and one runs with an HD receiver which is hooked up with a separate coax coming in from the outside.. I want to add a second HD receiver upstairs.....so how do I hook it up? Do I split the coax coming in from the HD? or has SD changed so that all outputs from their dish can carry the HD?

The LNB head on your dish most likely has 4 ports. An HD receiver requires one dedicated coax from the dish to the receiver. You will need to install another complete line from dish to receiver using one of the unused ports. A PVR requires two dedicated coax feeds.

The only time you can split a satellite coax feed is with the "beercan style" stacked system, and even then, switching from HD to SD will be problematic.
