I have been collecting PC points for a number of years and now have enough points for a TV. My question is has anybody every purchased a TV from The Real Canadian Superstore? What brands do they sell? What screen sizes do they carry? Do they carry 3D TV's?

If you have purchased a HDTV from the Real Canadian Superstore which brand did you purchase and how has it been working for you?

Any help would be appreciated.

We bought a Sony 46" LCD 1080p on boxing day a few years ago using our points.

It's an entry level model but looks and works great with our BellTV 9242 and PS3.

A relative bought a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD about 2 years ago that he's quite happy with. It was probably a mid-level set at the time - 4 HDMI, 2 component/composite, VGA, RJ45, DLNA, USB plays videos.

I think I've seen Sony and LG TVs, along with some el cheapo brands.

I was in a store this weekend and the only other large screen I saw was an LG 60pn6500 plasma TV for $998 (reg. price) - not a smart TV according to the web site:

http://www.lg.com/ca_en/tvs/lg-60PN6500

A place like Superstore has limited selection, especially at the higher end.

I agree that they probably don't offer delivery.

EDIT: If you're willing to wait, you might see something like the LN5750 in a larger size, but it will probably take a while.

Looks like The Real Canadian Superstore is having a sale this week to clear out all their 2013 model TV's. I am hoping they will be bringing in some better 2014 models.

This week Superstore has a Sony 48" Smart LED TV W600B Full HD 1080p. Does anyone own this TV? How is it? This TV is selling for $698.00.

It seems to have many features (especially on the 'smart tv' side of things), that other comparable sets do not. It also seems to have more hdmi and usb inputs in addition to having wifi capability.

Possible negatives, depending on your intended use (and technical bias for some on these forums)....are it being a 60 hz model and being edge lit instead of back lit.

Overall it seems to be a good set especially at that price......which, by the way, is also replicated at the likes of Future Shop, London Drugs, etc. However I suspect they do not take Superstore points. ;)

I would hazard a guess that a lot of these although good TVs are discontinued models It also goes back to volume sales. A single store gets 10, a chain store gets 500 (or more)
pay less to supplier less cost to the consumer

I picked a 58" Toshiba 58L1350U for $848 taxes in during the last no tax weekend. Decent set no bells or whistles but works good.

That's amusing. I had to pop in to the local Superstore to pick up a few things, so I thought I would check to see what the LG 49" was. They had the 32", but no signs or stock for the 49".

While I was there, I noticed that they had the Toshiba 58L1350U for $799.88 until July 3 (reg. $848). Then I noticed that Trickman had already posted about it.

Here in the Maritimes, many Superstores don't have an electronics section any more. In my closest store (35 km away), the space has been turned over to Joe Fresh clothes and a cell phone stand. I don't see any electronics flyers available even for stores that do have electronics (like Main St Moncton.)

When I eventually buy a new TV, the Superstore offerings would have been a nice choice, since the sales seem to go deeper than places like Future Shop. My ideal TV would be 40" with 3 HDMI, component, VGA + PC audio inputs and an acceptable picture for under $300.
