Hey guys

I recently bought a silicon dust HD home run thinking I can simply watch HD TV from that. I was clearly uninformed. Unlike the USA, there is no clearQAM here. therefore, just putting the coax cable into the tuner would give me an analog signal. My question is what do I have to do in order to record HD on computer. Do i have to buy a Rogers box? say a 4250HD and then hook it up to the tuner? would that work?

My question is what do I have to do in order to record HD on computer.
Connect it to an outdoor antenna and u can record the OTA HD?
Doubt u'll see any clear QAM signal on Rogers anytime soon.

No, the HDHomerun is completely useless to you with respect to Rogers.

It can only record clear QAM channels (which simply don't exist through Rogers), or digital ATSC over-the-air broadcasts.

Nothing output from your 4250HD box will be recognizable by the HDHomerun.

So, the earlier advice is correct--get an antenna.

I might add some additional advice: Do what I did and move to the US :)

Please see the following FAQ on Recording HD. All of the options are discussed there and links are provided for additional details. You can get an HD STB and set up an HTPC as discussed there, but be aware that you have to be a little bit geek to get that option working well as discussed in the links. Most people get a HDPVR from Rogers.

There are specific threads on the Hauppauge and the Firewire options in the FAQ, so use those threads if you have more interest in either of those options.

your gonna have to do a lot of research if you want to record Cable QAM stations with that thing, so instead why not use it for Clear QAM OTV antenna stations.
