I see George R. R. Martin's "OF Fire and Ice" is due out next month in 10 episodes called "Game Of Thrones". Evidently 1 book for 1 season. Trailers at the HBO.com site.

Never read the books, my wife loves them, but in terms of length and depth make "Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" trilogy look like Readers Digest.

Yeah maybe stick to american commercial networks if you want to avoid exposure to adult depictions of sexual activity. And of course it's just your opinion they add nothing to the show.
In fact, most of them have actually been integral to the story... and occasionally character development! Go figure. :)
If George gets more writer's block, A Dance with Dragons is supposed to be over 1000 pages long. They could probably find two season's worth of material in there.
Is the Queen sleeping with her brother?

Greg
I wouldn't call it "sleeping". Giggity!
Well, in her defence she is only doing it with her handsome twin brother, and not her achondroplasic brother!
Exactly: the 'pretty' brother, rather than the 'smart' brother. :D

Hey - the guy survivied after assinating the previous king! That takes a lot of smarts in the back-stabbing political court that is the Black Throne!!
Hey back! :D I'm just repeating the 'smart' brother's assessment from the first episode.
I've read some people aren't happy with the casting of Jason Momoa (I had to look it up) as Khal Drogo. All I can say is, if the guy is good enough to play Conan the Barbarian he's good enough for Khal Drogo.
Really, he's the new Conan!? Don't think that's going to work out. I liked him as Ronon in SGA but I can't see him as a lead. In fact, I have to laugh at his character in this show - he rarely ever speaks.

Well, that exactly mimics his character in the book. Although you can see he's picking up english (or whatever the common tongue is in that world) from his new wife.

I'm enjoying the show more as it goes along, but I have to wonder how easy it is to follow for viewers who never read the books...
The books are the best thing I've ever read in my life... And the show is a very good adaptation - yet the amount of detail they omit because of time constraints is considerable. The books are a sumptuous feast, while the tv show is a snack, albeit a very tasty one.

That's me. I am really loving this show, but I am having to work at trying to keep the threads together and so forth. Anyhow, great TV!
We watched the first 3 or so episodes having no history with it. It has been put at the bottom of the pile of things to watch though. We had difficulty getting into it.
In ROD, there are a bunch of shorts that explain A LOT about what is going on!
