I see George R. R. Martin's "OF Fire and Ice" is due out next month in 10 episodes called "Game Of Thrones". Evidently 1 book for 1 season. Trailers at the HBO.com site.

Never read the books, my wife loves them, but in terms of length and depth make "Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" trilogy look like Readers Digest.

Yeah, good luck with that. In the last ten years, Martin has finished one book in the series (and even that could be considered half an admittedly massive book as he moved half the material into the next "soon-to-be-published" book). At this rate, they'll be filming past 2020. This about sums it up: http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/books/article/784607--do-yourself-a-favour-don-t-read-this-
The first three books were completed prior to 2000. His pace has slowed down considerably with other projects getting his attention.
Wooo. But I'll probably skip the rest of the books until the series is finished. A book every five years requires a re-read of the series to get back up to speed and while the books are good, they're not *that* good.
