Wanting to watch the Toronto FC games in HD, I inquired with GolTV about it, and they say that they are producing it in HD, but Rogers hasn't picked up the feed. I called Rogers, and they say that it's GolTV and CRTC's fault. How does this all work? Are all of the parties to blame? I thought GolTV received CRTC's permission to broadcast their program in HD.

And, didn't Rogers carry the games in HD in their preview HD channel?

Something smells fishy here.

Not this year - supposedly there's some kind of dispute. Read about it on some TFC supporters' forums. The only place you can see the games in HD is in Real Sports bar, the downtown sportsbar by the Air Canada Centre owned by the MLSE.

True. Discovered this on the first broadcast of the TFC games this real. Brutal. I tweeted a couple of weeks ago asking when GolTV was going to be in HD and one of the moron hosts responded - it already is. It doesn't really count if no one can watch it in HD!

I just jumped on the HD bandwagon, so far, it's awesome. But there are channels that I lose the feed on after 30 seconds or so. GOLTV is one of them, which pisses me off since I pay extra for it. Anyone else have this issue?

I sent GOL TV & Shaw Direct an email at the beginning of the season asking about the HD situation.

From GOL TV:
GOL TV Canada is aware that HD is a necessary initiative for the service (and our viewers).

To that end, we have invested in infrastructure such that we can deliver an overwhelming amount of HD to our subscribers. In fact, over 90% of our current programming is in HD.

Our Toronto FC games are produced, at incremental expense, in HD. Our signal is being sent out in HD.

Try as we might (and believe us, we are trying), distributors won't carry the HD service. We will continue to secure carriage. We would ask you to continue to ask your service provider to carry GOL TV Canada HD.

Should there be any change to this situation we will definitely send you an update.
From Shaw Direct:
At this time, there are no HD games scheduled to be carried by us. That doesn’t mean that we won’t have any in the future, just not within the next two weeks.
