As millions of students slam the books shut to celebrate a glorious summer vacation, Future Shop is ready to open up the cash registers when they return in September.
Future Shop, which is the top stop for student laptops, has the computer models most in sync with the student lifestyle. Whether students are after the front of the flyer specials or the latest model with up to date digital, entertainment or gaming features, the company is ready to deliver.
Also on tap, is a massive range of accessories to accompany the healthy appetite for tablets and smartphones.
Student sales representatives were on hand at a recent training session in downtown Toronto familiarizing themselves with the latest gadgets and cutting-edge technology with a specific focus on back to school items. Strategies to help fellow students was also on the agenda.
Since anxiety and stress are commonplace when students return to school, Future Shop representatives are on hand to offer tech support to alleviate the stress. Whether that means showing how to connect to Skype to stay in touch with loved ones, or help sync phones and tablets with the same time management tools, or even fixing virus issues without having to go to the store, Future Shop keeps a keen focus on student satisfaction.
While at the session, it was impossible not to scope the show floor for eye-catching items. Two headsets got my attention: Sennheiser PC 360 gaming headset and The SteelSeries Siberia v2 headset.
The PC 360 is a preferred headset for professional gamers with open acoustics and intuitive controls to keep you in the action. It's also an open-designed stereo headset with “Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement” developed to channel audio signals directly into your ears.
The Siberia v2 is beautifully designed with comfortable earcups and crystal clear sound. I was informed that the Siberia v2 headset was selected for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards Performers and Presenters Gift Bag in 2010.
Similarly captivating were two 55-inch Smart 3D television sets, the Toshiba L6200 and the Samsung 6820.
It wasn't just about the superb picture quality on the L6200 but the fact that the TV lets you convert existing 2D content into eye-popping 3D. Built-in WiFi and MediaShare makes it easy to playback media files from your PC and the handy Media Guide allows you to search quickly for local channels, Netflix or YouTube.
The Samsung picture quality was equally as amazing. The Samsung Social TV feature lets you stay connected with friends and relatives, while the split screen display enables you to use Facebook and Twitter - just perfect for exchanging comments on the latest Euro Cup matches, without missing any of the action.
And what can you say about Samsung's new dual-core processor? It makes everything faster: searching for movies, Internet browsing, downloading apps via Samsung App Store or accessing Video on Demand content.
