Search as I might, I can't find any reference to this 'feature'.
My wife while playing with her new cell phone, accidentally sent a text message to our new Shaw home phone, instead of my cell phone. She claimed that a minute later, our home phone rang, and we received a text message.

Not believing her, I tried again and guess what, it did. A computerized voice indicated we had received a text message from a the cell phone number, then it did a text to voice translation and read it to us.

I can find instructions on how to forward your phone to an email, but nowhere did I see this feature mentioned, or if some extra charge is involved, but it was a bit of a surprise to me that the Shaw system did this.

Actually, that's not limited to Shaw phones. If you send a text to a landline, it will do that (although you might find an extra surcharge on your cell bill for that).

it is a seldom used feature but is actually standard nowadays. I was surprised to accidentaly get a text message on my phone also one day.

its a feature of the cellular company, not the landline provider.

Rogers and Fido so far offer this.
