I'm blown away that America's Most Wanted has effectively been cancelled; reduced to some quarterly specials. Wow. That show is an institution.

At least Fringe is back. Don't understand the Friday time slot though. That's usually relegated to shows that are not doing well or are about to be cancelled.

Alcatraz looks interesting. OTOH, Terra Nova looks like a cross between Little House on the Prairie and The Lost World. Could be a dud.

Fringe isn't doing that well and it was about to be cancelled, so it is perfect for Fox's Friday schedule. Plus, I think they figure people DVR it anyway, so it doesn't really matter where they put it. I would put my money on this possibly being the last season of Fringe.

The way FOX are introducing new series only to give them one season before pulling it off the air, I am starting to wonder if I should even be interested in the new shows. Case in point, Breaking In. I thought this was a funny fresh comedy. Lie to Me is the other I liked.

In all fairness though, it seems all networks are pulling out series before giving them a chance to mature/grow on people.

Lie to Me was on for 3 seasons, although season 1 and 3 were only 13 episodes while season 2 was a full 22 episodes. It's ratings fell each year, so I can see why it was canned.

I wish they would have given Chicago Code this amount of time to see if it could build on it's audience.

FOX needs highest rating from the start or they pack it up. Just think of any series that had potential but got cancelled. There are too many to list in one post...

Not always. Based solely on ratings "Arrested Development" would have been cancelled within a couple of weeks of debuting - it lasted 53 episodes which was more than any of the other networks would have given it. The same is true of "Fringe" which has had three full seasons in spite of anemic ratings despite following "House," "American Idol," and "Bones." It is going into a fourth season despite those who are obsessed with ratings, like Marc Berman of AdWeek, saying that it should have been cancelled after the first season or at least the first half of the second season. "24" ias another famous example. The ratings for the first part of the show's first season were so bad that people expected it to be cancelled by the twelfth episode.

I watched the X Factor last night. Reminded me of American Idol and half way thru the show they fired a judge. I thought she did a good job. Oh well.
