Found one in my closet I forgot I had. Not even sure if FTA is still around. Is this still a paper weight or......

FTA is still around. Thats an old rig and will not receive S2 ( HD signals). There are no longer firmware upgrades. This rig was very popular with the hacker crowd.

Appreciate it for what is is: a piece of FTA satellite history and museum piece. If you're serious about FTA, source a more modern receiver that supports the required DVB-S2 technology.

Found one of these locally on the free ad website. Asking only $20. Probably could get for $10 or less. Because it's local, it might be an idea for somebody starting out to pick it up just to get their feet wet in satellite FTA.

Local thrift stores have all kinds of Viewsats for $10. But they are all SD only.
