I was hoping someone could give me an idea on whether this would be a good purchase or not. A friend of mine is selling his Yamaha RX-V3800 and is asking $800. It's roughly 1.5 years old and he's looking to upgrade to a different receiver. I have been out of the audio market for a good while now (still using my RX-V992 from around 1998) so I really have no clue what technology has gone to since then. So, if you had $800 to $1000 to spend, would you buy the Yamaha RX-V3800 or would you buy a different receiver? If a different one, would you care to mention which one and why?
