CORUS INTRODUCES: FLAVOUR NETWORK AND HOME NETWORK - Corus Entertainment .
(full press release)

Corus Entertainment announces two brand-new lifestyle networks launching in Canada on December 30, 2024. Flavour Network and Home Network will offer unique and fresh destinations for lifestyle content, specifically designed and programmed for Canadian audiences. Launching with more than 460 premiere hours in Winter/Spring 2025, the Corus-owned networks will feature a mix of Canadian original programming, as well as international acquisitions through new and expanded license deals. The broad slate of exclusive content delivers new voices and formats, familiar faces from proven hits, and global representation. While Home Network promises to deliver the feeling of “home” beyond four walls with inspiring storytelling, Flavour Network will expand viewers’ palates with a fresh take on all things food – both delivering a hand-picked, content-first strategy and curated brand experience.

“As Canada’s largest independent broadcaster and leader in lifestyle content, we will continue to operate the country’s biggest and most widely distributed lifestyle channels with the same expertise that built the foundation of the previous foreign brands in our market,” said Troy Reeb, Co-CEO, Corus Entertainment. “Both Flavour Network and Home Network are thoughtfully curated new brands, built specifically for Canadian audiences. With robust, original programming and expanded licensing from the world’s biggest lifestyle studios, these networks will deliver big audiences and unique opportunities for advertisers.”

Canadian content drives the programming strategy across both networks, with 110.5 hours of premium originals commissioned by Corus confirmed for 2025/2026, including six titles currently in production and more in development. Corus Studios titles originally slated for Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada will air on the new lifestyle networks, including new seasons of Scott’s Vacation House Rules and Pamela’s Garden of Eden and Top 20 specialty entertainment series Renovation Resort.* Ahead of its Season 11 premiere this fall, Top 10 specialty entertainment program Top Chef Canada has been greenlit for Season 12 to air exclusively on Flavour Network.* New seasons of The Great Chocolate Showdown and Carnival Eats also join the 2025 lineup, along with Season 1 of Pamela Anderson’s Pamela’s Cooking with Love. Brand-new greenlights from a mix of new voices and proven stars include Building Baeumler with Bryan and Sarah Baeumler, Rentovation with Natalie Chong, Beer Budget Reno with Kristen Coutts, Life is Messy with Kortney Wilson and Kenny Brain, The Big Burger Battle with Andrew Phung, and a yet to be titled cross-country travelogue series focusing on beverages. Corus is also in development on new seasons of Rock Solid Builds, House of Ali, and a series with Sebastian Clovis’ production company Shoots ‘N Leaves.

Expanding the Flavour Network menu with boundary-pushing leaders from the food space are Chasing Flavor with Carla Hall, Adam Richman Eats Britain, and Andi Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts. Chef icon Gordon Ramsay finds a new seat at the table in Canada with Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, airing exclusively on Flavour Network. Great British Menu, The Great American Recipe, Morimoto’s Sushi Master, Celebrity Family Food Battle, Dinner Budget Showdown, and Andrew Zimmern’s Wild Game Kitchen also join the network. Special presentations of Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, Alex Vs. America, Kids Baking Championship, and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives will continue on Flavour Network into Spring 2025.

The Home Network family grows further with a diverse roster of acquired programming from around the world. The Home Edit experts, Joanna Teplin and Clea Shearer, take on big challenges in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis team up in Honest Renovations. Additional acquired programming includes Empty Nest Refresh, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, Outrageous Homes with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Key to a Fortune, A Place in the Sun, Your Home Made Perfect, Selling Houses Australia, Dream Home, Interior Design Masters, and Grand Designs the Street. Home Network will feature encore presentations of some 2024 series into Spring 2025, including Home Town, House Hunters, Good Bones, My Lottery Dream Home, 100 Day Hotel, and Celebrity IOU.

Additional programming details and greenlights will be announced later this year, as well as the official launch of HomeNetwork.ca and FlavourNetwork.ca and supporting social channels. Flavour Network and Home Network will replace the current channel position of Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada in 2025. Customers can contact their service provider for more details. Flavour Network and Home Network will be available for free preview for two months, from January 3-February 28, 2025. Viewers will also be able to stream full episodes from both networks on STACKTV.

They will figure out new names and programming for Cooking Channel and Magnolia Network sometime soon.

There was going to be a new name and programming for the Oprah Winfrey Network. Unfortunately, Corus was unable to find an alternate source of programming, which resulted in the channel's unfortunate demise on September 1, 2024.

My guess is NO because they are competitive but the CRTC could intervene in this should Corus complain. Of course I could be wrong. My reasoning for this is I specifically remember when Corus first launched Cartoon Network, Rogers refused to carry it for 2 years in. Their are other examples like Sportsman channel, and REV which didn't get carriage either for several years.

I would think Rogers will carry them because they are the same channel. It's not like Corus is shutting down a channel and launching a brand new one in its place. They have existing agreements for those channels. Cooking Channel and Magnolia Network, my guess is they use these channels for something other than their current genres and in those cases, new deals might have to be negotiated.

The ability to rebrand is part of the reason we have so many zombie channels. Compared to trying to get carriage for a new channel with other providers, it's much easier and cheaper. Plus, they can eek out a small profit from carriage fees and advertising while minimizing costs for programming and operations.

The names are very generic and the graphics I have seen for them, look more appropriate for a FAST channel. Either they couldn't find another (international) brand to partner with or they don't have the money to dole out for a new licensing deal. Considering their current financial situation the probably decided to go with generic in house names.

Audiences will feel at home with the familiar faces of Canada’s favourite and established home renovation stars, plus the introduction of talented new personalities ready to make their mark.

Three brand-new series are currently in production. In Beer Budget Reno (10×60 – Proper Television), lifestyle expert Kristen Coutts delivers life-changing renos for people who are told they can’t afford them, transforming tired outdated spaces into something fresh and functional. For Rentovation (13×30 – Nikki Ray Media Agency), designer Natalie Chong helps renters transform transient spaces with nonpermanent solutions that give forever-home vibes without forever-living commitments. Then, Building Baeumler (10×60 – Si Entertainment) sees fan-favourites Bryan and Sarah Baeumler give viewers an inside look at their lives as they tackle a resort renovation in the Florida Keys, expand their Bahamas property and invest in a new project in the area, and tackle a personal renovation back home in Canada.

Additionally, three returning titles have wrapped production and are expected to premiere in Winter/Spring 2025. This includes Renovation Resort, Season 2 (8×60 – MEM) with Bryan Baeumler and Scott McGillivray, Scott’s Vacation House Rules, Season 6 (8×60 – MEM) with Scott and co-host Debra Salmoni, and Season 2 of Pamela Anderson’s home-renovation show Pamela’s Garden of Eden (8×60 – Fireworks Media Group).

Come 2025, three additional series will be in pre-production or development. Meanwhile, comedian Andrew Phung heads into production this fall on Big Burger Battle (6×60 – Nikki Ray Media Agency). With judges George Motz and Connie DeSousa, the newly greenlit series will see seven burger-obsessed cooks and chefs come together to crown the world’s best Burger Master. Then, with a fresh season of Top Chef Canada on air now with Season 11, the most prestigious culinary competition in the country will return for Season 12 (8×60 – Insight Productions Ltd.), heading into production next year.

Start TV (run by Telus) has announced that they will be carrying Flavour Network and Home Network when they launch on December 30.

Again, just like their parent company Telus, they are removing the Discovery channels owned by Bell when they rebrand on January 1. Just like how they removed OLN when it shuttered, rather than carry its replacement Bravo.

I don't usually post these types of news releases, but here's a summary of some interesting points.

CORUS ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL LAUNCH SPONSORS FOR FLAVOUR NETWORK AND HOME NETWORK - Corus Entertainment .

Marquee Partners Include Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, Pandora, and Think Turkey for Flavour Network, and The Brick and Rust-Oleum for Home Network. Additional Partners to be Announced in 2025

Corus repeated "Flavour Network and Home Network will replace the current channel position of Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada on December 30, 2024. Customers can contact their service provider for more details."

We'll see if Rogers cooperates.
