I am enjoying the music you have been playing during this ‘test’ period for your new radio station, CJOT.
I do have a couple of suggestions, though, for when you really get up and running, as follows:
1) One thing I am enjoying during this trial period is the lack of someone constantly telling me what time it is!! So, it got me thinking… I am stressed enough at times during the day, especially getting ready in the morning, and driving in to work (when I’m late!), and get even more stressed when I am constantly reminded of what time it is on the current radio station I listen to. Everyone has clocks or watches, so maybe you could cut out the constant reminders that other stations give as to what time it is!
2) It seems all the news we hear on the radio, or read about in the papers, is all so depressing! Break-ins, assaults, murders, rapes, bombings… it’s endless, and so, so depressing! It seems we live in a horrible world, but, in fact, it isn’t…not really. Wouldn’t be nice to have a segment, (once a day or whatever) where reporters reported on happy news, good deeds done, uplifting stories, that leave us with a “wow, is that ever nice” feeling? I think that would be great! Maybe we’d actually touch some lives that needed to be lifted from the depression that all the bad news we see on TV, read in the papers, and hear on the radio news. We get enough of that everywhere we look.
3) And finally, I love hearing some of the older songs of recording artists now & then, either by current artists, or artists of the past. I also love the really old stuff (50's, 60's, 70's) Also, what about having a segment where you play an entire album of a current artist, maybe have a ‘feature artist of the day’ at a certain time each day (or once a week), so we get to hear what the whole album is like, and not just the current or more popular single every other radio station plays over and over that makes you wonder “gee, does this artist do anything else?!”. No one ever does that! Mix it up more. The radio stations I have listened to play some songs to death! Songs I liked become songs I hate because I hear them played so often! I love soft rock, and some of my favorite artists are: Chris de Burgh – all of them, not just ‘Lady in Red’; Steve Miller Band; Rod Stewart, the Beatles, CCR, Lady Antebellum (although the only song I ever hear is “Need you Now” – do they do anything else!?!)
Anyway, that’s my two cents worth. I look forward to hearing what you offer when you finally get off the ground.
BTW – I am unable to tune to your station in my office (Kanata), which is disappointing. I can get you at home (Kemptville) and in my car, but wish I could tune in at work. Hopefully, that will change.
Good luck with the new station!
