A new Canadian radio station from Astra Media, Canada's largest radio broadcaster, is now on air in Ottawa.

The official launch date for Ottawa 99.7 FM, whose format is described as hot adult contemporary, is slated for May 27th, 2010.

Ottawa radio enthusiasts the station is now testing but is still experiencing co-channel interference with the low power Ottawa Information services radio which still broadcasting on 99.7Mhz. Known as CIIO, the tourist information radio is expected to be relocated to to another frequency.

Ottawa 99.7 FM will be Astral’s 84 radio station in Canada. The company is this countries largest radio broadcaster with 83 stations in eight provinces including CKQB-FM, the Bear in Ottawa.

The station was authorized by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on August 26, 2008 in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2008-222.
