Onkyo has announced that its new top-of-the-line THX Certified Blu-ray Disc player will be shipping to dealers in August.
Features include 3D Blu-ray playback, support for the latest lossless audio codecs, dual HDMI outputs which allow users to switch easily between two displays, such as a main TV for casual viewing and a projector for movies and sports, and onboard Qdeo video processing technology for deinterlacing, noise-reduction, and 1080p upscaling.
In addition to playing Blu-ray Discs, the BD-SP809 can also play back most major audio and video file formats found on CD and DVD today, including DivX HD, MP3, and WMA.
Additional playback options include the ability to play audio and video files from a USB mass storage device connected to the USB port found on the back of the player; play videos, music, and photos sent from a DLNA 1.5-certified media server.
Thanks to internet connectivity, consumers can also stream movies and TV shows from Netflix, Blockbuster, Film Fresh, and VUDU services to the BD-SP809 player. A subscription to these service is required.
The Onkyo BD-SP809 will be available in August for $600.
