Dan Snow shares the filthy histories of the world’s greatest cities in an immersive three-part series that brings to life the stinking histories of London, New York and Paris. Snow shows how these modern capitals, forged in the dirt of the past, emerged to become the iconic modern metropolises known today. He steps into the shoes of professionals such as the medieval muck-raker responsible for clearing tonnes of excrement from London streets; the pig handler helping to clear the New York streets of waste; and the Parisian undertaker, battling to cope with the human cost of a bloody revolution.

Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT, beginning Nov. 17 on Discovery HD

Sounds sort of like a cross between Trashopolis, and the brilliant British programme Worst Jobs in History. I will probably watch it - thanks for the tip!
