When attempting to log in to My Account at Fido.ca at night, I get the following message:

Our systems are under maintenance daily between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. EST. Self-serve functionalities are currently not available. Please visit us again after 6 a.m. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Does any other carrier do this? Am I out of line by feeling this is completely ridiculous for a technology company? Daily server maintenance...really??

This is the same company who charges extra for paper billing. I can log into any other website 24/7 and access my personal data, but not Fido. This has been the case for months, if not years.

Maintenance

My account was down for maintenance for about 15 months a couple years back. Every time I tried to log in, it told me there was a temporary problem with my account that would be resolved shortly. I had electronic billing, so I didn't get an invoice for that entire period. They finally fixed it after the 5th or 6th time I talked to them about it, after they called me to ask why I wasn't paying my bills on time. Apparently not being invoiced wasn't an important problem until I stopped paying...

Good lord, four hours a night!

This means people in Vancouver can't get to see their account at 11:01pm at night.

I could see four hours a week of downtime for maintenance, patches, code updates etc but four hours a day?

Exactly. I finished work at 10:30pm the other night, come home and like to do some computer work before going to bed. Nope.

I get that frequently, even in the middle of the day for my pay as you go account. However, sometimes going round the menus in a different way gets round it. Odd. Seems to happen most often when I'm due to refill, I keep wondering if it's a deliberate "frustration" to get you to forget to refill on time and lose your banked time.... like how they seem to send reminder texts reliably for 4 months in a row, then skip a couple of months...
