Fido plans to launch wireless service in the Maritimes this summer with the opening of five kiosks in Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John.

By June 14th, Fido will be available at almost 50 third-party retailers across the Maritime provinces including GLENTEL, the Apple Store, Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart and Loblaws Superstores.

"The expansion of the Fido brand to the Maritimes fosters competition for the market which is great for the consumer and it offers a significant growth opportunity in this important market," said Cameron McFadyen, Director of Marketing, Fido.

McFayden expects new Fido customers in the Maritimes to benefit from the cost savings and customer service that comes with the transparent agreements found in FidoADVANTAGE, easy upgrades with Fido Tab24, live call-in support with Fido LiveAnswers, device trade-in offers with FidoTRADE and a rewards program with FidoDOLLARS.

Customers in Halifax, Sydney, and Kentville, Nova Scotia as well as Moncton and Bathurst, New Brunswick will have access to the Fido LTE network. Fido's LTE network will spread to Saint John, Fredericton, and Miramichi NB, Charlottetown PEI, Truro and New Glasgow NS by the end of the year.
