Hi there,

I can't seem to find out how to set a static IP for my computers with the ActionTec router installed as part of the FibreOp package.

Does anyone with this router know how to do this?

just set your computers network setting to the ip you want it to use instead of automatically getting the ip address from the router, it would also be a good idea to change the beginning and ending ip addresses your router hands out so it doesn't include the static addresses

On a related note, is it possible to bypass the FibreOp router and continue to use my Dlink router (without completing eliminating the FibreOp as per file's post) for my home network. The interface for the FibreOp router is painful and I think I prefer the old DLink interface for someone with my low level of knowledge.

If I remember right there is a full DMZ option within the Actiontec router. If you add the MAC address of your D-Link to that, plug it in, it should get your external IP address and do what you want. I toyed with it a bit but my router software did not like it. You may have better luck.

If that doesn't work your other option is to do a pseudo double NAT by putting your DLink in the normal DMZ, and plugging it in.

We have a recurring issue of our Actiontec dropping its internet connection. Does not seem to impact the TV service other than when I unplug the router to reset it. Seems to happen somewhere around every 10 days or so. I will start tracking to see if it is actually occurring on a consistent basis or is more random but wondered if anyone else is having a similar issue. Other than setting my second router in the DMZ I don't think I have changed any settings.

I'm having the same problem as well. Every time I activate the Advanced DMZ and set it to my airport extreme router, I'll loose my internet connection after a few seconds. But when I refresh one of the Actiontec config pages, the internet connection comes back (for a few seconds) and then disappears again. This repeats over and over again. The funny thing is, my father has the same setup and configured the same way and his works with no problems at all.

Check your actiontec firmware between yours and your dads router.

if your dads is a newer Firmware then you will need to try and get Bell Aliant to get you updated or get you a newer Actiontec.

Why are you using the DMZ? Is it just so you can use your Airport Extreme? Why not plug the Extreme into one of the LAN ports on the Actiontec?
