I'm currently on Bell Sat for tv and Aliant for HS internet. I'm considering moving to Aliant for both with FibreOP. One of my concerns is HD compression. Can someone enlighten me as to this, whether its a much better PQ than Bell Sat ?? And is the HS internet in real terms much faster than my current, Ultra ??

Thanks

How big is your TV? What do you usually watch?

I find that Hockey on my 52" TV really shows the problems with Bell Aliant's signal. With high-speed panning, you get a blocky image at times. However, if I'm watching a movie on HBO, I can't really see the difference.

I knew there would be a slight hit to video quality when I went to FibreOp, but I switched for the internet speed and the potential of IPTV.

I have 25/5 and I love it. It's a big jump from Ultra. I really notice the upload speed when posting HD files to Vimeo. What used to take over 1/2 hour on Ultra now takes a few minutes.

Also, Bell Aliant will soon offer services like whole-home PVR and On-Demand, which satellite cannot do at all, or as well. Satellite is basically offering all that it can, where IPTV will continue to evolve.
