Fibe, Questions..

Im thinking of ditching bell tv after 5 years. Love the service, prices are good but sick of satellite tv losing signal in bad storms. The new Fibe tv service is available in my area.I currently have the fibe25 internet. Ive read that its a max of 4 set top box's. My question is i have 5 tvs. I want to change to fibe tv and i obviously want to watch my 5 tv's so i need 5 set tops. The most set top box's that will ever be on at once is 4 ( 3 sd and 1 hd). Now is it possible to get a 5 box install in this case? the 5 tvs will NEVER all be used at once. Unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me.. I need the 5 tvs or ill have to either settle for bell tv or make the swap back to robbers. I'd call be all ask but i already know ill call 5 times n get 5 different answers so i always come here first

Thanks in advanced folks.

I
get several different CTV hd feeds on Fibe... no different than satellite...
Fibe has 3 CTV feeds. Satellite has a gazillion feeds especially since they had to add even more locals.

Rainey, I find strange that most people that switch from Videotron to Fibe mention the clock. I guess they don't know before hand that Bell receivers Satellite and Fibe don't have the clock on the front.

But I undertand you and others that talk about the clock.

My parents had an older standard Videotron receiver which had the clock. One day it died on them and they got the new small box that does not have the clock. And they missed it so my dad bought a clock and put it on the new Videotron standard receiver. :D

One thing I like with Fibe is that you have more recording options like just new episodes. And it has other features Videotron doesn't have.

So I will be looking forward to your review.

rogue17 - I know the clock is a joke...just mentioned to show how good fibe really is.

Please note that with illico 2.0 you can set up shows to only record new episodes of series. I can not remember the exact option but that is the way I had set up mine. It was handy when recording programs on specialty stations where they run numerous times in a week.
All I can say is I'm in 7th heaven riding on the edge of Cloud # 9(would be on Cloud #9 if Bell Fibe had all the locals BTV is offering GRRR  ). From compared to Rogers

Though switching from BTV didn't have an issue except for rain fade(had 98% of 100% on all TRS still got rain fade, that and not having all the locals GRRR basically switched Best from BTV to Best Bell Fibe more or less the same channels minus a couple.

Still love Bell Fibe, I won't give it up!!! I'd rather die first!!
Not having the clock drove me nuts to the point where I went out and bought a small Sony digital alarm clock.
IMHO this should be considered an additional cost of switching to Fibe...just kidding but otoh...:)
For me the switch to Fibe from Videotron was a massive improvement in just about every aspect.

I was originally upset that I was forced to take the internet (I had ElectronicBox) but the unlimited option for $10 softened the blow
I am thinking of switching from Videotron to Fibe. Currently, I have 3 services with videotron: TV, Internet and Mobile, so I have a combo package with them. I would only want to switch the tv and the internet, and keep videotron mobile.

If I don't take a combo package with bell, will I pay a significant amount more? They don't seem to have their regular prices on the site, only the combos.

The real reason I want to switch to Bell is I hate the videotron on demand services. None of the on demand content for hbo or movie network is in HD. From what I understand, with Fibe, this content is HD? Is there a similar selection compared to videotron? For example, with videotron, currently, I can watch all of season 2 of Spartacus, and all of season 3 up till now. I know with some providers, you only get the last couple episodes. How is the on demand selection for movies with TMN? Lots of selection?

Also, HBO Go and TMN Go on demand for mobile is not available with videotron, and I'd also like to have access to that. I suppose that's another reason to switch over.

I also forgot to ask in my last post, how intrusive is the installation for FIBE? I have a new house with cable wiring already going to each room in the house, does FIBE use existing wiring or will they have to drill holes through everything and install equipment outside of the house as well?

Kind of figured that.:)

FIBE is way ahead of Videotron. All the people that I know that have switched are very happy with FIBE.
@AbsolutRunner

Generally they will use it, unless the cable is old and not up to par.
I have cable in every room on 2 floors and basement. Bable comes into basement, and they are really old. What will they do? Drill through floors or drill outside of the house?
It really depends on the cable, they will try and reuse it if it was higher quality even if old.
Every install is a little different YMMV.
AbsolutRunner - they used new wiring for my place as my wires were old. I am in a building so it was not really intrusive at all.
Regarding the vod content - yes it is in HD and there is TONS more. I can not comment on the series information (only had fibe for a week).

As dunlop mentioned FIBE is a "massive improvement over Videotron". I don't think you will have any reason to regret it.

Thanks for the reply. My only concern is that right now I have no home phone, and using internet, mobile and tv with videotron. I don't mind switching over for tv and internet, but I'd have to shell out 400 or more to pay off my phone with videotron, plus my wireless plan is better. Ill have to see if I can get out of it without losing too much money.

Do I need to get a home phone with Bell if I get FIBE?
you do not need home phone but you are correct the rebates are all about the bundles. However, if Bell wants your business maybe you can work out something. It might be worth it to call and see what they will offer you.
Well looks like I'm going to have to wait. I called and they said that it wasn't available in my sector ( Ste-Rose Laval ), but that it may be here in a month.
Can you get a single channel added, or in this case pay for 2 because I just want Basic package & TSN/TSN2?
Additional channels available for $2.00 each

So, yes, you can have basic + TSN, however, if you want TSN HD, you will be required to add HD Sports - $5.00/mo.
All in all, TSN in HD will run you $7/mo, you'd get TSN1, TSN2, and TSNHabs.
If he takes the HD package, I guess, he doesn't need to take TSN in SD. So, it will only cost him 5$.

Not correct, normally this is the case, but TSN is an exception to the rule. He'd need both.
