@Boavista
The Bell techs checked all the cable runs in the house and used their own connectors on all the plates (in the wall and outside).
They also used their own splitters - not the ones that were already in use.

@jimbo42 - I have had several discussions with Fibe TV techs and they have all stated that the signal is whatever the source signal was. It might be 1080i or 720p depending on what they were handed. They do not alter the signal unlike Bell TV(ExpressVu) where it's 720p.
I have a tech showing up tomorrow for an issue I'm having and I will ask again.

@hugh - had a tech in today working on a problem I'm having. Asked him about the source signal and he also said they do not change it. He said if it comes from a source as 1080i they do not transcode it - just compress and wrap it.

I have a Bell Fibe tech at Adelaide calling me this evening concerning my current problem - I'll check with him also.

@jimbo42 - I believe you will find that Bell Satellite can now employ both 720p and 1080p - although 1080p is for their VOD service.
As for Fibe TV, this is a new service with relatively new technology. I have been told by several techs that the source is not trans-coded to a different format (i.e 1080i to 720p) - they might possibly be mistaken but I would not consider them liars.
At some point I can only hope that we can get a Bell rep. to answer this question to everyone's satisfaction.

We got a letter from Bell yesterday saying that as of Dec.13 our speed will be capped at Fibe 6. It said we were being given Fibe 16 until that time.... I did a few speed tests since we first got Fibe TV and we were always getting over 23Mbs on our line.
They said we could upgrade to Fibe 16 (for a price).
Oh well..... the honeymoon is over!

@eug - since you are asking questions about Fibe 25 and other Bell internet services, you might try the "Bell High Speed Internet" thread. That thread might have specific answers about the data side of things.

With Fibe TV you get a Alacatel Lucent Cellpipe 7130 which supports VDSL2 (Wikipedia has a very good explanation of VDSL2 vs ADSL2)

IP over coax uses HPNA - again, wikipedia has a good explanation.

@annayya - when Bell Fibe TV was introduced (at least in the Beaches) you were able to get up to 25 Mbs even though you were paying for Fibe 6. After a few months Bell capped the speed so that Fibe 6 was simply that - 6Mbs.
You can still get up to 25Mbs but you'll have to pay for it with Fibe 16+.

Not sure about other people in the Beaches but the tech made it clear when I got Fibe TV last year that they would cap the speed after a few months.

@Dr.Dave,
I just checked out the Fibe TV website and it seems they now have an "Essentials Plus" internet package with Fibe TV.
Here is the info. -
Download speeds of up to 2 Mbps
Upload speeds of up to 800 Kbps
Wireless Home Networking
Basic Security services
Monthly Internet usage: 2 GB

However, the pricing is strange - it seems to cost more than any other of the other internet packages. Pricing screw-up ?
