Fibe 12 Can Only Do One Thing at a Time?

I've just switched from Rogers internet to Bell's Fibe 12 package and I've noticed that my internet access is annoyingly spotty if I'm trying to do two (or three) things at once. If I'm only in my browser, I get the advertised download speed but if I start up my computer and my Dropbox updates or, for example, if I'm downloading a file in iTunes then launch my browser (Firefox), it just sits there waiting until one of the other tasks is done.

Anyone else experience this?

I don't see what difference it would make, but I'm on a MacBook Pro, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4 GB RAM and a 7200-rpm HDD so it's not a slow machine.

I had the same problem before with my Fibe12 at my apartment in Waterloo - I found that if I was on my PS3 and my laptop at the same time, the DNS server resolves at an awfully slow rate.

I switched the default DNS server to Google's public DNS and that worked wonders. Maybe you can try that too
